Talks are escalating that Arsenal could lose Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City, but it’s time to draw a hard line, we don’t sell without Sergio Aguero coming the other way.

Here we are again, just like we were before, with Arsenal in possession of a truly spectacular footballer and, of course, wouldn’t he be tied heavily to a move to Manchester City, who have plucked far too many players away from the Gunners in recent years.

I ignored these rumors from the start and still find them incredibly doubtful, but they are picking up in numbers to the point where just about every tabloid source is reporting it. No major sources have picked it up yet, but all things start somewhere.

It’s a bit worrisome. There is absolutely no excuse to sell Alexis Sanchez to a direct rival. None whatsoever. And any move has to fall squarely on the shoulders of Arsene Wenger especially in light of him saying that Alexis wasn’t going anywhere.

Manchester City are making the Gunners look like a farm club. It’s time to draw a hard line and demand something in return. Why should we keep supporting their ranks when we get nothing for our efforts?

And quite frankly, there is only one man that would be an adequate trade-off, and that man is Sergio Aguero. The Argentine has been heavily out of favor with Pep Guardiola since the arrival of Gabriel Jesus and rumors were swirling that he may make the move to Arsenal anyway, but since then, nothing has happened.

Now, with rumors intensifying concerning Alexis’s potential exit, there should be only one passable outcome accompanying his departure.

Of course, we don’t have good news in that department either. Both Pep Guardiola and the club chairman have affirmed that Aguero will be staying at the Etihad this coming year. Meaning that if Alexis were to be sold to City, we would likely get nothing in return.

Although, if Wenger’s “he isn’t leaving” can be so easily turned upside down, then it is sensible to think that anyone else’s “he isn’t leaving” can be turned around also.

It’s just silly that we are even here talking about this. Would Alexis really leave us to join up with Guardiola again? I still don’t buy it. And I even more don’t buy the idea that Wenger would sell Alexis without a blockbuster signing coming the other way.
