A few weeks into the transfer window and it is the same old story with Arsenal. Numerous links to high profile players but nothing officially materialized.

The summer transfer window is always the most exciting time of the year. New faces come and old faces leave. The transfer window Arsenal are about to be in come July has had so much hype. We were supposed to see a major overhaul in which many players not good enough would exit and high profile players would come in.

Of course, it hasn’t turned out that way early on (hopefully it will change). Arsenal have only signed one player: Sead Kolasinac. However, it was news we knew for quiet some time as he was a free transfer waiting to be officially announced.

As for players leaving, we haven’t had much news about that either. Yaya Sanogo is one that is confirmed but nothing about players such as Francis Coquelin, Kieran Gibbs, etc,.

As for high profile players, we are always linked to them. Players such as Kylian Mbappe, Alexandre Lacazette, James Rodriguez, etc. have been linked but of course, nothing has officially materialized.

So how does Arsenal’s lack of transfer action compare to other BPL clubs? Let’s take a look:

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Regarding Manchester United, they have released Zlatan Ibrahimovic and have been constantly linked to big strikers like Antoine Griezmann (goodbye to that for now), Alvaro Morata and co. but in general, they haven’t been very active (that’s a first). However, if they can bring back Christiano Ronaldo, they might’ve topped everyone.

Manchester City used to be an average team until the money flowed in. Now they are serious title contenders and they mean business in this transfer window. They already signed former Monaco star Bernardo Silva and have made Ederson the highest paid goalkeeper in history. They are linked to players such as Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and recently, Dani Alves. City are looking dangerous.

Chelsea haven’t done much as well, but are set to sign goalkeeper Willy Caballero after selling Begovic. They’ve been heavily linked to Monaco’s Bakayoko and our own Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. They surprisingly haven’t been very active but that will most likely change when the window officially opens.

Liverpool have signed young English striker Dominic Solanke from Chelsea and are close to confirming the signing of Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah from Roma.

Compared to other teams, we’ve seen the same old same old Arsenal-again. A plethora of links to major players but of course, nothing ever official. With futures unclear for Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and etc,. we could be in for another disappointing season if nothing changes.
