Arsenal are certainly set up for a serious scene involving the recapture of the spotlight by Jack Wilshere, but it can’t be set up anymore. It’s time for action.

Arsenal’s season has hit a sort of pseudo-consistency where they are starting to piece together some semblance of reliability and, dare I say, power. But in the midst of this celebratory mood (if you are endeavoring to celebrate) is the lurking shadow of the contract rebels.

The Gunners are going to look very different, very soon. The players that have powered the club in recent years are dissipating as we speak. And yes, injuries have played a part, but while those injuries were keeping them off the pitch, other players were convincing us that even when healthy, they should remain off the pitch.

And then the biggest story arrived on the scene – Jack Wilshere.

The Englishman has improved more and more with each appearance to the point that Brighton & Hove Albion was, to some, the chance to let him assume his throne.

But rather than risk it, Wenger wisely waited and now, with two weeks for Wilshere to rejuvenate and refuel, we are getting even more news in the Wilshere circuit. After talking about how much he loved the club and how much he wanted to succeed here, Wilshere then proceeded to talk about his fitness levels.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Take it away, Jack (via Arsenal Player):

"If I’m honest, my fitness levels are probably the best they’ve ever been. I always hear the boss say it is my first five-metre burst, when I receive the ball and to get away from defenders and I feel that’s getting better and better each day."

Here we are with even more fuel for the fire. More hype for the future. I don’t honestly know how else Jack Wilshere can set the scene. He has praised the club, gushed over his love for it and spoken candidly about how he feels better than he ever has before.

What more can we want?

Well, that’s an easy answer. We want to see him in the first team picture. We (or at least I) want to see him pushing the players that don’t want to be here out of the starting XI and finally reaching the levels we have dreamed of for him these past few years.

The scene needs to be acted out to completion when we return from break against Watford. There are officially no more reasons not to.
