Arsenal: Alexis Sanchez “Machester City risk” nonexistent
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal will be facing the potential future home of Alexis Sanchez, so should we be concerned about a lapse in motivation? No. Who is this, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain?
There has been dull murmur of concern among supporters over whether or not Arsenal should be worried about Alexis Sanchez‘s motivation levels going into the Etihad to face Manchester City.

City did, after all, nearly secure a transfer deadline day move for the Chilean, which would have certainly been interesting, to say the least. But it never happened. And Alexis was left at Arsenal, where he spent some time on the bench with an “injury.”
Given the closeness of the move, it’s understandable where there might be a small point of concern, especially with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and his pre-Liverpool fiasco where he was about as enthused as a parched camel.
But for Alexis Sanchez, things are different. They always have been. Because unlike Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alexis is a world class player who always gives his all.
Arsene Wenger said it best, as quoted by the Daily Mail:
"I expect him to be motivated but that is always the case. I don’t see why it will be any different against Manchester City. One thing you cannot fault in Alexis Sanchez is his motivation.More from Pain in the Arsenal3 observations from Arsenal’s victory at Goodison Park3 standout players from 1-0 victory over Everton3 positives & negatives from Goodison Park victoryArsenal vs PSV preview: Prediction, team news & lineups3 talking points from Arsenal’s victory at Goodison Park"
He went onto emphasize how the transfer window was closed, so it didn’t matter how close anything was back then, because it means nothing now. And while Wenger can often be a divisive subject matter, I don’t see how you can disagree with that assessment.
Alexis Sanchez has only ever had a few moments where he looked unmotivated, and it had nothing to do with who we were facing or where he wanted to be. It had to do with the state of the team itself, and being frustrated with those around him.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Alexis has had full motivation lately, particularly these last few games, and that undoubtedly comes from being able to combine with Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac. Three players whom he has never uttered a bad word about.
If anything, Alexis may damn well be extra motivated to stick it to City, especially seeing as how he has nothing to gain by tossing it in and putting up half an effort. He’s a competitive guy, he always has been, and that doesn’t change because of a few fond feelings for the opposition.

Don’t stress about Alexis. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him break his drought all in one fell swoop.
