Arsenal will likely send out a wave of kids against BATE Borisov in a worthless match, which gives Eddie Nketiah a chance to double up on his good fortune.

Arsenal’s impending match against BATE Borisov doesn’t have a lot to watch for. The game will decide nothing for the Gunners, as they’ve already clinched top spot in the group. However, Borisov does still have hope of qualifying if they can win the match and vault into second place, depending on the result of FC Koln and Red Star Belgrade.

They will face a Gunner’s side that will likely be almost entirely composed of kids. After all, with nothing at stake and games aplenty coming throughout the festive period, what’s the point in even sending out Olivier Giroud or Jack Wilshere when you’re going to need them for rotation in the Premier League?

But the kids have been decent enough for the Gunners and, depending on who all is out there, it could be a fresh glimpse into the future.

No one will be higher on life though, than Eddie Nketiah.

The young English striker has recently signed his first big contract with the Gunners just prior to the match and has to be feeling pretty good about himself. The club has seen what they want to see and they have invested in him for the long haul, something Chelsea had refused to do previously, dropping him so the Gunners could have a free run at him.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Having a club truly invest in him for the first time can only mean good things to a guy that already scores incredibly freely at every stage he has competed on.

Nketiah marked his first major performance with two crucial goals to see Arsenal part Norwich City in the League Cup and while his legend status has not built since then, the new contract will certainly give him wings.

Not to mention this is a match that should massively favor him. Borisov are going to be going all out for that win and the Gunners will be able to play a counter-attacking style, allowing the speed and drive of guys like Nketiah and Reiss Nelson to find open space.

That is, assuming they start. Namely Nketiah, who has yet to start a match despite making four appearances.

If the club is willing to invest the money in him, though, they are certainly willing to invest the time in him so, ideally, this means Eddie can double up on his regular goal-scoring motivation and make it double trouble against BATE Borisov with his contract in tow.
