Arsenal’s all-important Europa League campaign continues against CSKA Moscow. Here are all the match facts and how to watch.
The emptiness of the Emirates when Arsenal faced Stoke City was pretty telling. It was the same emptiness that was seen when the Gunners faced Watford. The Premier League is over, fans are frustrated by their team’s position in the table, and the best way to show that frustration is by not showing up.
The Europa League is different. Fans created a fantastic atmosphere against AC Milan in the second leg of the Round of 16 because the Europa League actually matters. It is the one chance this club has of getting back into the Champions League and, as such, you can expect a similar atmosphere in this one.
It figures to be an exciting match centered almost entirely around one man – Alexandre Lacazette. The French striker came back just in time, with Danny Welbeck suffering an injury and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang obviously still cup-tied.

Lacazette was an absolute firecracker in his half-hour cameo against Stoke City and, given his stoppage time penalty that got the goal monkey off his back, you can bet that he is going to be fit and firing against the Russian visitors.

Given the importance of this competition, Arsene Wenger even found it necessary to rest the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Granit Xhaka against Stoke, giving them an added kick with which to assert their dominance at home, in front of a positive atmosphere.
This should be an exciting one. The Gunners have no major absences other than Petr Cech, who isn’t the Europa League keeper anyway, and Welbeck, who would be replaced by Lacazette if he can’t go (and may be replaced by him anyway). Other than that, the mounting injuries have subsided entirely.
CSKA Moscow will be without Vasin and Fernandes due to injury and Nababkin will be missing due to suspension. Also keep an eye on Wernbloom and Natcho, who will miss the return leg in Moscow if they are booked today.
