Arsenal’s dream deal for Lucas Torreira is done. Don’t let the pot-stirrers let you start thinking anything other than the truth. Which is that it’s done.

Arsenal’s midfield was always going to need help this summer. With the steady presence of Jack Wilshere leaving and the hopes of Santi Cazorla departing as well, the midfield is drained of resources.

Lucas Torreira popped up immediately as the perfect solution. So perfect, in fact, that the Gunners were willing to drop an extra £4m-ish to secure him, rather than just paying the release clause and facing the rivalry of Napoli, and other teams.

Torreira was absolutely perfect and everyone saw it. He filled the role of Wilshere and even offered the potential of another Cazorla, if his goal-scoring history can be harnessed again.

Not only was Torreira the ideal solution, but every other solution fell off the transfer wagon incredibly quickly.

Jean Michael Seri? Not as useful as Torreira. Max Meyer? Probably the closest thing to Torreira, but hell, even my Schalke fetish forgot about him in the wake of Torreira’s link.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

It’s stunning to get a player like this for £26m, and everyone that saw him in the World Cup saw that he is worth that price and then some, given that he is 22-years-old with the world ahead of him.

The deal is done, pending the end of the World Cup. The president of Sampdoria said it was done. He actually said that Torreira has been sold for €30m, also known as the £26m that the rumors said the Gunners were paying for him.

No, Torreira didn’t announce it himself, as he is focused on the World Cup, but an agent of another Arsenal target announced it himself, which is just another, unnecessary confirmation of a move that we already know is complete.

And now Kike Marin has to come out and stir up trouble, saying he isn’t sure the deal is done via a tweet, and the headlines are spewing filth about a “u-turn.” None of this is true, it’s all in the name of creating headlines to get their name back into the limelight.

Torreira’s name is the name that should be in the limelight, because Torreira’s deal is done. It’s just not confirmed yet.

Anyway, don’t believe any of this. It’s poppycock, and not worth your time.
