Arsenal’s need for a winger is known good and well, and if budget is the issue, then let’s kick up the bandwagon for Croatian Ante Rebic.

Arsenal are linked to Cristian Pavon given his World Cup exploits. Only, they weren’t really exploits so much as just an announcement that Jorge Sampaoli trusted him enough to start over Sergio Aguero, which didn’t exactly work out for them, did it?

With a £27m price tag, and plenty of other suitors to boot, Pavon figures to be a battle that may or may not be worth fighting.

Instead of jumping in on that bandwagon and trying to win out against the competition, why not go after someone who has actually proven something thus far into the World Cup, will continue to prove more, and fits the billing just as well, if not better?

Ante Rebic has been having a Cup with Croatia. He has been an absolute menace on that left hand side, playing a fierce defensive game while also providing constant pressure on the opposing back line and enough defensive actions to give some the fancy idea of turning him into a left back.

But then you remember what he did for Eintracht Frankfurt last season. Nine goals and two assists in under 2000 minutes of play.

That is one hell of a return from such a versatile player, who can suit up all across the front line, or play deeper in the midfield as well. The options are a bolstering point for Rebic, who has yet to really hit the spotlight of any major transfer rumors.

As it stands, the market valuation of Rebic is under £10m. If you have seen Rebic play thus far, you have to believe in what this man is capable of. He plays with the same intensity that we see out of guys like Sead Kolasinac.

The idea is to add some steel to the team, that’s why someone like Stephan Lichtsteiner was brought in. Well don’t stop there, keep the steel coming. Rebic is a steely dude at a bargain rate and look at how well he is doing on the big stage. Much better than Pavon is, that much is certain.

The bandwagon hasn’t started yet, which means that the Gunners can get in on the ground floor. Plus, he’s at the level where the Emirates would be an upgrade and, ideally, no promises would have to be made.
