Arsenal’s tertiary need of a winger or two remains, and now Kingsley Coman has entered the conversation. Why do we subject ourselves to this torture?

Arsenal‘s need for a winger has taken them on a tour of exquisite names – Ousmane Dembele, Gelson Martins, so on and so forth. Now we can add another winger to that mix, a winger that we should by no means expect (ever) but who would be oh, so sweet.

That winger is Kingsley Coman, the Bayern Munich man (aren’t they all) who missed out on World Cup glory due to an injury and has to be chomping at the bit to get back out there and remind the world just how special he is.

According to the rumors (that I’m desperately trying not to believe), Unai Emery has made it clear that he wants Coman on his side. Which mirrors what every manager in the world feels, because who doesn’t want this guy?

The thing is, Bayern always carry this crazy surplus of talent that few are ever able to penetrate. It’s as if they put all these players in a fortress, make them grandiose promises and guarantees, and no one ever leaves.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

All I can ever think of is Arsene Wenger saying that building the Emirates would help us compete with the likes of Bayern Munich. Well…

Naturally, Serge Gnabry has also started making headway with the German giants. Had we been able to maintain him, it’s unlikely we’d even be having this conversation.

I don’t think I need to delve into why Coman is such a fantastic solution to our small problem. Call it a hammer blow, or something similar. It’s the same kind of effect that Dembele would have had if he was a realistic option. And I did fool myself into believing he was realistic, too.

I would advise against doing the same with Coman. He has a much bigger role to play with Bayern and unless he was just dead-set on making a change, which doesn’t seem at all necessary in the current position that he’s in with his career.

Dreams are fun until we have to face the reality of them not coming true. And that’s why I’ll say no more about Kinglsey Coman.
