Arsenal: But what can actually be offered to Kinglsey Coman?
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal have reportedly submitted an actual bid for Kingsley Coman, and while I love this idea, we have to ask the important questions now.
Arsenal’s sudden “genuine” interest in Kingsley Coman shouldn’t come as any great surprise. After being linked with the likes of Leon Bailey and Ousmane Dembele, Coman was only a matter of time, given the skill the lad has.
But it never felt plausible in any way. He is on Bayern Munich, who have a spot cut out of him, and his only snafu has been his own inability to stay healthy. Which is hardly anything to sell him over.
Yet now we have reports that a genuine offer has been made just shy of £50m. While that offer seems like a reasonable offer, and something that should potentially get some notice from Munich and potentially even open up a dialogue, it still seems a bit shy of what the asking price may end up being.

That isn’t what I’m here to discuss, however. What I am here to discuss is what we can actually offer Coman to entice him to come to the Emirates. Because for as much as we need a winger, what I envisioned happening was finding a winger that could grow in the club. Coman is a guy who demands immediate inclusion.

As it stands, the Gunners attack, which will at most fit four people, contains Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. It’s more likely that the attack will fit three of those people and one will be left to rotate.
Coman would be another rotational option and while I love that idea, I can’t wrap my head around why he would find that more appealing than, say, Bayern Munich, where he has already found a good deal of success.
Of course, the name value of Arsenal is always going to carry some weight, and the history surpasses that of Bayern Munich, so maybe there is something about playing here that just vibes with Coman. Which, if that’s the case, then sign the man up, let’s do this.
It just feels odd. Unless there are some big time changes yet to come, but that doesn’t only feel unnecessary, it feels kind of dicey to be shaking things up so much so late on in the window.

Don’t get me wrong, I would love to have Coman at the club in any capacity. My point is just that I’m not sure what we can offer him that would entice him to make that transition, as much as I want to believe that it could be true.
