Arsenal: Leon Bailey ranks as the cream of the realistic crop
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal’s semi-quest for a winger has taken them across many potential options, but Leon Bailey ranks supreme in one major category – realism.
Arsenal are on a quasi-hunt for a winger. I think they like the idea of having a world class winger more than they enjoy the idea of having to spend the money to get one. Anytime you are linked with Ousmane Dembele and Kingsley Coman, that is bound to be the case.
There are plenty of other options out there, but none have been as heavily tied, or tied at all, for that matter.
Leon Bailey, however, is a different story. The Jamaican international was a prime candidate not more than a few months ago before he faded from the radar in light of other, less realistic names such as the two mentioned above.

Now, Leon Bailey is back on the radar. And it’s being reported that a £35m bid may be enough to open up a dialogue, at the very least. There are only a few other teams being tied to Bailey, but the concern is that a team like Chelsea could offer him more concessions, if indeed they part with Willian.
But that is the only concern with him. The Gunner shave already done business with Bayer Leverkusen when they brought in Bernd Leno. It’s completely reasonable to think that they could do business again.

And Bailey has something incredibly important acting in his favor that neither Dembele nor Coman has – he doesn’t play for a powerhouse club yet. Bailey plays on a club known for developing talents and then selling them. It’s part of the process.
Coman and Dembele both play on clubs that you can reach your peak at. They have no imminent desire to leave unless playing time isn’t to their specifications. Which may or may not be the case, but that’s where Bailey has another leg up.
He is pushing for the next level. He hasn’t overstepped himself and is still well within his prowess as a talented young player. Both Dembele and Coman have hit their struggles with their giant leap.
Bailey’s giant leap wouldn’t be giant. It would be the next logical step up with the chance to be a move that can put him at the same heights as these powerhouse clubs that Dembele and Coman are getting lost at.

Bailey would be fantastic. Now it’s time to make this dream a reality. Which isn’t such a big ask.
