Substitutes

Stephan Lichtsteiner – LB: 6.5

Out of position, brought on unexpectedly, up against a raring Riyad Mahrez. This was not a nice competitive debut for Lichtsteiner. But he stuck to his task well. He closed down Mahrez better than Maitland-Niles, he tried to play forward when he could, and he ploughed on down the left flank admirably. He also brings an aggression that I really, really like.

Alexandre Lacazette – ST: 7.0

Lacazette offers a greater physical presence to Aubameyang in the central striker position. Although Aubameyang is a greater threat in behind, Lacazette illustrated yet again why he deserves to start up front. He harassed the City defenders, he held up the ball well, he provided a focal point that allowed Arsenal to get up the pitch. Needs more game time.

Lucas Torreira – CM: 6.0

Came on when the game was in a strange, subdued period with City two goals to the good. Made a few nice passes here and there. Had a couple of snappy challenges, interceptions and bursts to the ball. Other than that, it was fairly quiet.
