3. Mesut Ozil needs to be dropped

I don’t know if I have ever seen a worse match by Mesut Ozil, and I’ve seen some bad ones. Not only was it bad, but seeing him pout all the way off the field when the game was still level, was perhaps the worst moment of my football-watching career.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Perhaps I’m exaggerating, but dear Lord, how are you going to mope off the pitch when your team is still in the game and doing quite well despite all your own deficiencies? Maybe have a clap, applaud the fans and look like you give have a crap about anything other than yourself. Is that too much to ask?

Ozil is in the exact same boat as Xhaka. I believe he can pick himself up, but what we saw from him against Chelsea was unacceptable. And I do realize I spent this past week talking about the need to exercise patience, but not when you’re going to act like he did. That’s pathetic.

So drop him. Mkhitaryan took control of the game anyway and proved to be more than enough creativity. Let someone like Ramsey start instead. At least he isn’t a pout machine.

Okay, let’s get positive at No. 2.
