Back Three

6.7. Actually played quite well in the first half before being taken off to accommodate Unai Emery’s plan for more width. Took charge and showed some resolute decision-making. Probably could have done without the yellow card, but he was standing up for his teammates, which will almost always get a pass from me.. CB. Arsenal. STEPHAN LICHTSTEINER

6.5. Always nervy at the back, especially when he is the centermost defender, which I’m not a fan of. Did have some excellent defensive plays though, as he is also prone to do. Certainly shouldn’t have gotten that yellow card that earned him a suspension. That said, hopefully the injury isn’t too serious, because it’s already a massively problematic situation there at the back.. CB. Arsenal. SHKODRAN MUSTAFI

7.2. Very, very no-nonsense. So no nonsense. Incredibly no nonsense. Aside from his yellow card, which earned him a suspension, I found Sokratis to be satisfactory on the day. Literally the patron saint of no nonsense, in case you missed that memo. Still think he is better of as the central pivot of the back three, but I won’t nitpick. Led the team in ball-winning plays by a long shot. Good work from him.. CB. Arsenal. SOKRATIS
