Arsenal: 5 reasons to fall in love with Ivan Perisic transfer

4. He bolsters a sudden need
At the start of the season, I didn’t think that experienced creators would be on our wants list, let alone our needs list. We already had a shortage of wingers, and by shortage I mean absolutely nothing, but between Ramsey, Ozil and Mkhitaryan, we had three proven veterans capable of carrying the creative duties.

Only we don’t anymore. Ramsey is still quality, but he’s leaving, and no doubt Emery wants to phase him out of the club as much as he can.
Ozil has been terrible all year, with the odd spurt of brilliance followed by more terrible. His time is spent, his wages are a blight on the club, and he doesn’t even play.
And Mkhitaryan has struggled since arriving at the Emirates. Just when he was starting to get his footing, he got hurt. But is he worth holding onto for the hopes of what he might become in the remaining year or two? No.
We need someone like Perisic to take control. And while he isn’t a straight-up creator, like Ozil, the Gunners have found other ways around relying on just one guy. Perisic doesn’t need to be. He just needs to be himself.
Speaking of which, on to No. 3.
