Full-Backs

Arsenal. SHKODRAN MUSTAFI. 6.5. Actually looked quite comfortable. Aggressive in his tackling, one of which early on was harshly judged to be a freekick, did give a couple of fouls away, but was nicely balanced positionally playing at right-back. Obviously, he did not offer much in possession, but he shouldn’t be expected to either. Moved to centre-back after Sokratis’ red card and played fine. He did get dragged out of position a couple of times but was not punished for it.. RB

4.0. Played really well in the first half, closing down Rennes’ threatening Sarr quickly and smartly. But when Rennes found more space in the second, his lack of pace was exposed. Sarr was dangerous, skipping past the Spaniard on several occasions. He then scored a terrible own goal. The deflection was not his fault. Stopping because he thought the ball was going out and then the Rennes player was offside is stupid. The one thing he is in the team for is his intelligence and experience. This displayed neither of them.. LB. Arsenal. NACHO MONREAL
