Bernd Leno – 7.75

I was sceptical of the Bernd Leno signing last summer. He was a talented but flawed goalkeeper, someone who broke onto the scene as a teenager and never really improved. That was a warning sign. I am very happy to announce that I was wrong. Very wrong.

Leno was phenomenal in his first season at the club. There were some shaky moments, of course. Mistakes against Liverpool and Southampton in the autumn were concerning, but as the year progressed, he got better and better. His distribution improved, his shot-stopping suddenly became immense, and the command of his area was more noticeable also.

There was a string of top tier performances from Leno to close out the year, the north London derby and win over Manchester United standing out in particular. Arsenal might just have found their long-term goalkeeper.
