Arsenal: How is the best available player also the cheapest?
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal supposedly have an open lane to get to Hakim Ziyech, all they have to do is want him. So what exactly is there not to want?
Hakim Ziyech is the perfect solution to everything Arsenal need help with in the attack. I have no doubts about that. And the fact that they haven’t signed him up already, while I’m sure it’s more complicated than I’m making it seem, is disappointing.
But in case you haven’t noticed, Arsenal’s transfer window is going… slow. They have yet to make a single move, whether it be selling or buying, and some find this discouraging, especially with how quickly they shot out of the gates to get to some of their prime targets.
Now, as I keep saying, it’s early on in proceedings. It’s not the end of the world that a deal hasn’t been done yet, as few deals have been. There is still a lot of talk around a lot of players, and that alone is exciting.
Then you have these rumors come out that state, “Arsenal can sign Hakim Ziyech if they want him” and I’m over here like, “Okay, what’s the catch?”

Because clearly that’s not the full story. Of course we want him. There is literally nothing not to want about him. This attacking midfield/winger situation is completely at the whims of youth and players that should be sold in the coming months.
We’re linked to plenty of players to fix this situation – Ryan Fraser, Yannick Carrasco, Ivan Perisic, Ismaila Sarr. But I don’t care whose name you throw in there, if Hakim Ziyech is in the mix, he has to take top spot no matter what. His numbers were off the charts (in the Champions League too), he idolizes Mesut Ozil and thus can replace him with his more applicable abilities, and if he isn’t cut out for the No. 10 role, he can play on the wings too.
Ziyech is an attack master, he wants to play at the Emirates, everyone wants this to happen. He only has a £25m release clause, which makes him the cheapest option of the bunch. Which is insane to think about, seeing as how he also happens to be the best option of the bunch.
Just get it done. There is nothing to get in the way, at least not according to the various reports out there. Pay the price and get your man.
