2. Lucas Torreira

He has to start, doesn’t he? There’s just no way around it. We know Matteo Guendouzi is going to start, and we know that Dani Ceballos is going to start, but unless Unai Emery wants to start Mesut Ozil, which I’m sure he doesn’t, then Lucas Torreira has to be the guy and, after his performance against Liverpool, I can’t wait to see what he does here.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

As we all know by now, the midfield is in turmoil, and that requires a bit of an authoritative touch to solve. Granit Xhaka won’t be there, so don’t count on him to control the match, so we’ll instead be looking at Matteo Guendouzi.

But in the likely event that Guendouzi struggles with that particular element (while still thriving in others), it will likely fall on Torreira to not just hold up the defensive end of things in the midfield, but also take control of not making the kinds of mistakes that have plagued this midfield all year long.

I’m still not sure what his future at the club holds, and after seeing his reaction to the Granit Xhaka incident, I’m even less sure, but the man has the ability to make a massive impact, and I sure hope he can manage it.

Finally, No. 1.
