Centerbacks

Another area incredibly limited for a variety of reasons. Shkodran Mustafi is out because of card accumulation and Rob Holding is still having trouble overcoming his latest injury issues. That eliminates the two who would probably be starting this match, if healthy.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

It leaves us with Calum Chambers, Sokratis and David Luiz.

Luiz was benched against West Ham at long last, and thus we can expect him to start in this one, with an impetus on trying to regain his place in the Premier League starting XI. He is never one to count out, that’s for sure.

I would hope that Ljungberg is allergic to the Sokratis/Luis combination by now, but even if he isn’t, Sokratis is definitely a guy who would need a rest, given that he is past his prime, so Chambers is likely going to get the nod next to Luiz. Frankly, as long as Chambers is back there, then I’m excited about how the defense looks, and I just hope that Luiz can keep up with him.

Or maybe Ljungberg throws us all for a loop and sticks Konstantinos Mavropanos in next to Luiz. That would be quite the twist. Don’t expect it though.

Midfielders coming up next.
