Arsenal: 5 reasons Granit Xhaka is still the future
By Josh Sippie
1. Accountability
This has always been the No. 1 thing I find so valuable about Granit Xhaka. Forget what he does on the pitch. Forget what anyone thinks of him. This is just a stand-up guy. He’s a guy who takes responsibility for his actions. And not just that, for his teammates’ actions too.
Anytime there’s a poor performance, or something bad happens, the first (and often only) guy to step up and address the fans via social media is Granit Xhaka. Usually within 24 hours of a match finishing. He wants us, the fans, to know that they care. That he cares.
When Xhaka struggles, he’ll be the first to admit it and promise to do better. After matches, no matter the result, he’s the guy applauding the fans for their effort.
Not everyone has that trait, and it’s not really something you can teach. Some guys go perform on the pitch and disappear after. That’s fine. It’s their right to do so. But having some as upstanding as Xhaka, who won’t hide from anything or anybody no matter the situation, is invaluable. For the fans, for young players, to the state of the club.
So yeah, Xhaka is still a part of the future of this club. He is the future of this club. He’s the guy you want to build around.
