1. We can do better

I wouldn’t have made this point when we signed him. When we signed him, I thought we had found the perfect guy. It’s just occurred to me over the past two years that our defensive work isn’t being done by Torreira, it’s being cobbled together by Dani Ceballos, Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi. Torreira has been inconsistent at best.

With links to Thomas Partey, all I can do is dream about a future with his presence in the midfield instead of Torreira, who has hardly managed any presence whatsoever. Partey is one of the best in the world at what he does, and what he does is exactly what Arsenal need.

Even if Thomas Partey doesn’t prove possible, we’ve learned a lot about this midfield this year and about what kinds of things we need, so we can take what we’ve learned and apply it to moving forward with a more secure and reliable midfield.

Of course, ideally, that will include Thomas Partey.
