4. Evan Ndicka

Evan Ndicka is not talked about much among the transfer rumor mill, and that’s probably largely because he’s on a Bundesliga outfit like Eintracht Frankfurt. Frankfurt are midtable in the Bundesliga while much higher profile defensive transfer targets are currently pushing the top of the table at RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

But Ndicka is far from a slough. He’s one hell of an all-around athlete, such that he can even double as a leftback, where he has spent the majority of this year, accumulating two assists. As a centerback, he’s a monster in the air, providing a better aerial threat than we currently have, and with his versatility, he accomplishes two “needs” in one fell swoop.

He’s a great dribbler, though his inexperience leads to some wayward touches but that can be ironed out in time.

This is a smart signing. An economical signing. The kind of signing that might now turn heads, but makes so much sense to build off of. And at just 20-years-old, there’s plenty of time to turn him into the exact defender we need him to be.

On to No. 3.
