Fiorentina

Fiorentina’s midtable obscurity masks what is a true gem in Chilean midfielder Erick Pulgar. Pulgar is entering the prime of his career at Fiorentina after spending the bulk of his career at Bologna and what a prime it is shaping up to be.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

In the spirit of getting exactly what we need, Pulgar is just that. He plays the midfield as comprehensively as… well, as no one currently at Arsenal. He’s created seven goals for Fiorentina, scoring four and assisting three. He’s a tremendous ball carrier with very little risk to losing it and his creativity is bursting with 2.5 chances created per match.

None of that is lost in his defensive game. He wins the ball back four times per match, he has a tremendous work ethic that will translate well to the Premier League, and the more I talk about Pulgar, the more I want him.

The problem is he only just arrived at Fiorentina this year. It’s never easy to pry a guy away from a club he’s only just joined, and Pulgar clearly enjoys Italy.
