1. He’s good

Seriously. I don’t know why people are so quick to forget. Or maybe they aren’t quick to forget, they just aren’t actively reminded. But Konstantinos Mavropanos is the only young player who I ever recall changing Arsene Wenger’s mind.

Remember when Wenger wanted to loan him out as soon as Sven Mislintat brought him in? Then after a few training sessions, Wenger reassessed, and a couple of months later, Mavropanos was starting for Arsenal and doing a damn good job of it. He got one irresponsible red card and he’s not been seen since.

This was a really good player! And Sokratis, who has a ton of experience in and around the game, said that Mavropanos was the better defender of the two of them.

So why is he being counted out so prematurely? His current loan wasn’t about his quality, it was about getting him sure game time. No surprises he is blowing the doors off at Nurnberg and that, apparently, means that he’s only good enough to be sold.

No way. We lose nothing by keeping him, we gain nothing by selling him. Make the smart choice.
