Rapid Vienna vs Arsenal Predicted Lineup: European Football is Back!
We can be aggrieved at the level, but at least we’re in Europe.
Not the glitz and glamour of the Champions League, nor the financial gold mine of the proposed European Super League either. No, Arsenal are in the second most prestigious club competition this continent has to offer. It’s better than nothing.
Expectations dropped drastically as the weeks passed last season without three points, to the point where desperation kicked in and any notion of football outside of UK shores appeared beyond our reach. It took an incredible FA Cup run to achieve something, and we’ve been blessed with Rapid Vienna, Molde and Dundalk in our group stage.
So soon into the competition, we can’t settle for any less than full focus. On paper this is the toughest game for Arsenal, an 800-mile away trip to the side plucked out of Pot 2, hence securing a positive result will set the tone nicely for the rest of the group stage.

Rapid Vienna are a side most fans will be familiar with, although perhaps not well versed in. They’re Austria’s second best team at present, narrowly missed out on the Champions League via the play-offs and shouldn’t be taken lightly.
We’ve done our best to provide with an insight on them here.
As for us, well I’d like to see a much-changed team for the clash as we maintain squad management, but some areas won’t be altered considering we’ve got just two fit central defenders in the squad. Pablo Mari is still someway off full training, and while Shkodran Mustafi is available for selection, he’s had months out and may be eased in.
What should make for an exciting encounter is the addition of supporters. Indeed, Rapid sold out their 3,000 allocation of social distanced tickets, so for the first time since Mesut Ozil’s Arsenal swansong, we’ll have fans in attendance.
Here is your predicted lineup for Thursday’s Europa League clash.
