Wing-Backs & Midfielders

Çedric Soares (RWB) – Due to Hector Bellerìn’s suspension, a place on the right-hand-side of defence will be up for grabs against Southampton. After some impressive Europa League outings, Çedric deserves a chance to stake a claim of the spot. Thus, it’s likely he’ll get a starting birth against his former club.

DaniCeballos (CM) – After arguably unfairly missing out on a starting spot against Burnley, Dani Ceballos will return to Arsenal’s starting XI. When he came on in place of a red-carded Granit Xhaka, Ceballos looked desperate to make an impact. Hopefully he will play with the same kind of determination against Southampton.

Mohamed Elneny (CM) – After fortunately escaping a red card following an uncharacteristic tangle with James Tarkowski, Mohamed Elneny will remain available for selection. As the only other senior midfield option, the Egyptian will start against Southampton and look to recapture his promising early season form.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles (LWB) – The time has come for Ainsley Maitland-Niles to return to the Premier League starting lineup. The versatile Englishman has looked sharp in Europe and could provide some much-needed impetus against Southampton. Looking most comfortable at wing-back, it’s there he’ll likely return to.
