Arsenal have received an injury update on Thomas Partey.

It’s fair to say Arsenal fans got carried away with the signing of Thomas Partey. It’s also fair to say that any major side in Europe would have got excited at the prospect of having the Ghanaian in their side.

From the opening minutes of his first start for the club against Rapid Vienna, it was clear that the 27-year-old was a marked improvement on the midfield options that Arsenal have at their disposal.

No player in the squad is as complete in the centre of the park. In terms of athleticism, ball control, progression and aggression, he stands head over heels. Hence why his continued absence has been sorely missed.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

A previously injury-free fixture has arrived in north London and been beset with thigh problems that have limited him to just three 90-minute outings, leaving fans with just a mere appetizer of the impact he can have on this team.

Forced to sit out of the Chelsea victory – his fourth consecutive Premier League absence – it quelled the urge for his return, yet also highlighted precisely where the Gunners need him.

Sympathy can be hard to muster for Arteta in certain sectors, as while he isn’t the primary reason for the position Arsenal find themselves in, some of his decision-making has to be held accountable for recent failings.

However, in central midfield, his hands are mostly tied. The players at his disposal are not those to return the club into the upper echelons of the Premier League. All, that is, except for Partey, whose comeback from injury has been revealed.
