Leicester U-turn Opens Door for Odsonne Edouard Move From Arsenal

A scramble, of sorts, appeared to have been settled when it emerged that Leicester had all-but wrapped up negotiations for Edouard in time for the summer transfer window.

While clubs can’t officially sign players until June 9, the consensus was that the Foxes had won the race and Edouard was keen on linking up with his former boss at the King Power Stadium.

That lead has now gone cold. It’s gone cold for every club interested; indeed, Eurosport report that none of the sides in the Premier League have been especially convinced of the striker’s recent form.

An apparent transfer tussle has eased up and even Liverpool, who have also been listed as keen admirers, are balking at the £20m price tag Celtic are after.

Doubts have crept in and Celtic, who ideally didn’t want to sell in the first place, have raised hopes that they may keep him on for longer.

Of course, Edouard has not had a season like his ones previous, but neither have the Hoops. Under Neil Lennon, Celtic conceded the Premiership title to Rangers and are a full 20 points off their bitter rivals at the time of writing, were eliminated from the Scottish League Cup in the second round, failed to qualify for the Champions League and finished bottom of their Europa League group.

By all accounts it’s been a disastrous season, hence why Lennon walked. How much of that has impacted their No. 22’s campaign? It’s tough to say, but that in combination with the striker’s willingness to leave Glasgow will not have helped.
