Arsenal, Alassane Plea

Alassane Plea – Borussia Mönchengladbach

The final bizarre name drop is Alassane Plea, who whichever way is looked at just does not fit what Arsenal need at all.

By no means a bad player, if Arteta wanted to go out and sign a centre-forward this summer, as supporters you’d like to think that the scouting department would have done slightly better than a 28-year-old with six Bundesliga goals and one assist last season.

You’d also like to think that a striker more suited to a possession-based style and not a quick transitional approach might be in order. Plea is a tireless worker, strong carrier, passer and progressor, but considering he’d cost around £20m and is 28 already, there just is no fit for him at  Arsenal. Not with what is already on the books.

So, less than two weeks into the summer transfer window and some absolute gobbledygook has been dished up for supporters to dine on.

The three mentioned are particularly dreadful – Kenny in particular – and all coming from the Mail, who have a few top journalists who’ve provided excellent insight already this summer about potential Arsenal signings. It just goes to show all are capable of a bit of both.

Next. Arsenal's Xhaka grit. dark

Who knows though, all three of these may become concrete further down the line. Such is the market. However, as it stands, they’re three standout bizarre options that it’s fair to say can be quickly swept under the carpet.
