Martin Odegaard back on the radar at Arsenal, or never really left it? The number one target before the window opened, developments have seen the prospect of the Norwegian returning to north London ebb and flow. The pendulum may have swung more firmly in one direction.

Arsenal have to sign someone to complement Emile Smith Rowe. A player who can act as competition but also work alongside the new No. 10 to ensure the burden of creativity is distributed fairly.

With Odegaard being front and centre of any speculation for weeks, Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival as Real Madrid boss and greater willingness from the Spanish side to keep hold of their young talent saw early flames extinguish.

However, the deal was never dead and buried, only less probable. Real Madrid are faced with gigantic debt and have to raise funds if they are to finance their dream deal for Kylian Mbappe, among others.

Arsenal reignite Martin Odegaard plan after transfer development sees Mikel Arteta in with fresh hope of signing Real Madrid midfielder in summer window

Sergio Ramos has left and Raphael Varane is joining Manchester United on a cut-price £35m deal, which paints a clear picture of the situation.

Furthermore, Odegaard has wanted to succeed in the Spanish capital. Any player in their right mind would love to become a regular fixture at one of the biggest clubs in world football. It’s most young footballers’ dream.

Lately, sources out of Spain have hinted at a change of heart from the 22-year-old. Neither the player nor the club are ruling out a departure and if he does depart, it’s Arsenal that he has his mind set on. Arancha Rodríguez is one of many reporting the news.

Valued at around €40m (£34m) he would certainly constitute less of an outlay than James Maddison would, who could end up costing Arsenal in the region of £60m should they pursue that deal heavily.

As per football.london, while Odegaard is on their shortlist, the Gunners have sounded out the possibility of signing the 24-year-old through intermediaries.

Arsenal may float the possibility of another loan but with the midfielder having two years left on his contract and Madrid needing money, they’re highly unlikely to want to sanction such a deal.

What is quite hilarious is that coming from journalist Mario Cortegana at Goal Spain, who states that the club are struggling to find strong midfield options this summer and as a result, should Odegaard leave then they will place their faith in Dani Ceballos because he is desperate to stay at Madrid.

Next. 5 cut-price deals. dark

He may get his wish after all.
