Arsenal agree stunning €80m Dusan Vlahovic transfer
Dusan Vlahovic Willing to Wait on Transfer Move as Arsenal Circle
Regardless of there being an understanding between both clubs, the player and his agents are yet to give their say so.
Aware of mounting interest from clubs across Europe they are more willing to bide their time and assess any potential offers, potentially even as late as the end of the season.
From Arsenal’s point of view this is understandable, especially considering there are no guarantees that Arteta’s side are going to be involved in European competition next term.
As to why they are looking at the Serbian, from a profile perspective it makes complete sense. Whoever joins the club as the new No. 9 must boast physical presence, be able to play with his back to goal and get involved in the build-up play: traits very Lacazette-esque.
However, they also need someone who is lethal in the penalty box and can run in behind, elements that Aubameyang brings to the table. Simply put, Arsenal need the best parts of both their current main men.
Vlahovic is an natural finisher. He’s extremely accomplished for someone his age, and he boasts a hammer of a left foot. The range of his scoring is also pleasing, as he can control out of his body, shield before firing off or strike from range.
Showcasing such ability despite his young age makes a move even more alluring. To have developed at the rate he has in what has been a poor side over the past 18 months is credit to his natural talent, and in a team with greater quality around him the sky is his limit.
For €80m, though? That’s serious money and if Arsenal are, as the report says, happy to pay that amount to Fiorentina then they are clearly smitten with the towering striker.
It’s also a substantial amount for someone with around 18 months to go on his deal. Fiorentina could be playing hardball to gauge interest, but this is a serious sign of intent from Arsenal.
