Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the world. A long and illustrious history melds with an eye-catching style of football. The club’s interest and involvement in the community and desire to use its platform to support important causes only serve to endear fans already enamoured with the club.

And we mustn’t forget the retro kits.

What this means is that Arsenal has a massive and wide-reaching fanbase. Supporters from all over the world tune in to matches, whether they’re against Manchester City and Liverpool or Molde and Dundalk. Such has been Arsenal’s influence that several important celebrities, politicians and players of other clubs wield the red and white.

It is this latter interest that Arsenal must exploit. All around the footballing world, players from other clubs transfer to a team they’ve supported since they were children. Yet it seems as if this rarely happens in Arsenal’s favour.

The London club’s academy is one of the best in the world and youth players frequently express their desire to play for the first team. But what about players that ply their trade for rivals? Why don’t Arsenal target them?

Two names come to mind when discussing how to use players’ interests in the club. Wilfred Zaha and Yves Bissouma. Both of these players are among the best in their position in the Premier League. Zaha’s pace and trickery with the ball, along with his efficiency in the final third, has made him one of the most feared wingers in England.

Bissouma, meanwhile, has shown his quality season after season for the Seagulls and has developed into a midfielder that would improve the vast majority of teams across Europe. His all-around game extends far beyond disrupting play.

More importantly, both are renowned Arsenal fans.

These players also slot into positions that Arsenal need depth and quality in. There is a lack of senior players in the attack and the midfield is extremely light, even without injuries.

While several factors go into identifying the right player and negotiating with his parent club, both Zaha and Bissouma would elevate this squad. Using their support of the club would only ease negotiation while ensuring the level of the dressing room continues to rise.
