Arsenal are readying a second bid for Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus and are confident of striking a deal with the Cityzens.

Eddie Nketiah’s contract extension means the Gunners will likely sign just one striker this summer, and Brazilian Jesus has emerged as the club’s priority in an inflated market.

Jesus, who worked with Mikel Arteta at the Etihad, helped City to their fourth Premier League title under Pep Guardiola last season by contributing to 17 league goals. However, he’s keen to leave the club this summer in favour of becoming a protagonist elsewhere.

He has just a year left on his City contract and although the Cityzens have offered him a new deal, the 25-year-old is poised to depart with several clubs interested.

Arsenal confident of signing Gabriel Jesus & are readying a second bid

Tottenham, Real Madrid, Chelsea and AC Milan have all been linked with a move with Jesus, but it’s Arsenal who are understood to be leading the race. Edu Gaspar has already discussed a move with the player’s entourage and an opening bid of £30m was sent to City last week.

The champions, though, value Jesus at £50m.

However, according to The Times, Arsenal are readying a second bid for their priority target which is unsurprisingly believed to be closer to City’s valuation.

Despite other competitors manifesting, the Gunners are still confident of signing Jesus this summer with the player said to be keen on reuniting with Arteta. The Brazilian is the profile of forward Arsenal require, and his ability to perform multiple functions in the frontline will prove to be invaluable for the Arsenal boss.

City’s desire to retain Jesus despite the arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez depicts just how important he is to Guardiola’s side. Pep is a huge admirer of the Brazilian and is desperate to keep him in Manchester. But, it seems as if the player’s heart is away from the Etihad.

City’s loss will seemingly be Arsenal’s gain.
