Arsene Wenger believes that this current Arsenal side has what it takes to challenge for the Premier League title in 2022/23.

The legendary former Gunners boss still believes in the club that he helped transform all those years ago. With Mikel Arteta overseeing profound changes to players, backroom staff, and more, we are finally seeing the Gunners come out the other side of a bleak tunnel.

So much that Wenger thinks this current crop of Arsenal talent can be challenging for the title this season. The 72-year-old spoke with The Mirror and said that the potential is there, and the side can challenge for a top-four spot, and even said a title challenge isn’t out of the question.

"“I would say they are moving in the right direction,” Wenger said.“I honestly think there is no weak position in the team… they are young, promising players and they have bought well this year. There is no completely dominating team this season and Arsenal has a chance with the potential that is there. We used to be in the top four and why not again? You cannot even rule out the fact that they can fight for the title and hopefully they can do it.”"

Those words will surely fill Arsenal fans with hope for the rest of the season, but for many, this current crop is still a little away from competing with the very best teams in the league. While significant progress has been made since Arteta took over, there is still plenty of work to be done.

Another midfielder or two has been the number one target for what seems like forever, and another star winger to help compliment Bukayo Saka would go down a treat.

As Wenger pointed out, there is no dominant team this season (Manchester City would beg to differ) but given that the campaign is still in its infancy, a lot can happen between now and May.
Last year, Arsenal fell agonisingly short of a top four spot after collapsing in the final few matchdays and strengthened considerably in the summer, bringing in Gabriel Jesus, Oleksander Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner, and Marquinhos.

Is that enough for the Gunners to challenge for the Premier League title? Wenger believes so.
