We know that Arsenal were interested in signing then-Leeds winger Raphinha in the summer before Barcelona swooped and quickly wrapped up a deal. The Gunners were unwilling to match Leeds’ asking price for the Brazilian, but they might get a second chance to sign the winger this winter.

Raphinha has only been used sparingly by Xavi this term and Barcelona are reportedly willing to sell the summer arrival in January should a suitable offer for his services arrive.

The 26-year-old is obviously a player Arteta appreciates and his underwhelming start to life in Catalonia surely wouldn’t alter the Arsenal manager’s opinion of the former Leeds star. While capable off both flanks, Raphinha is far superior off the right and would provide stern competition for the excellent Bukayo Saka.

With Reiss Nelson injured and Marquinhos proving to be of the requisite level, Arsenal require depth down the right just as much as they do down the left.
