3. Oleksandr Zinchenko’s display shows why missing out on Mykhailo Mudryk isn’t the worst thing

Zinchenko’s calmness of the ball is wonderful to watch. Even when being pressed by Dejan Kulusevski, the Ukrainian never looked to be in any trouble. The Spurs press was easily played through on many occasions in the first half – particularly due to Zinchenko and Thomas Partey’s technical ability on the ball.

If we think back to when Arsenal first signed Zinchenko, he wasn’t the priority target, Lisandro Martinez was. Despite being linked for a long time, Manchester United’s offer was much larger than Arsenal’s and therefore Martinez ended up in Manchester.

Sound familiar? The situation is comparable to the whole Mudryk saga. Arsenal had a second player in mind to sign then and it is more than likely the club does now. We know that the squad lacks depth in attack and Arteta and Edu know that too. If second-choice Zinchenko has been as good as he has, then here’s hoping Mudryk’s backup is too.
