Arsenal Transfers: Gunners in the hunt for Bayern Munich midfielder
Arsenal are interested in signing Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch this summer, but Bayern Munich have no intention of selling the 20-year-old.
The Gunners are poised to build on their hugely successful 2022/23 campaign by further bolstering their squad ahead of 2023/24. The club are set to pursue a couple of midfielders capable of performing multiple functions, with the likes of Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo, and Alexis Mac Allister all linked to the current Premier League leaders.
While Granit Xhaka has enjoyed a fine season, there’s no doubt the Gunners will attempt to sign an upgrade in the summer window. Another possibility for Arsenal is Bayern midfielder Gravenberch.

The highly-rated Dutchman has endured a frustrating season in Bavaria after joining from Ajax in 2022. Gravenberch built quite the reputation after breaking through in the Dutch capital, but his contract situation meant Bayern only spent €25m to acquire his services.
Julian Nagelsmann, however, was reluctant to give his new midfielder minutes before his recent departure and, as a result, Gravenberch has only registered 348 minutes across 18 Bundesliga appearances. Thus, it’s no surprise that the player, as Florian Plettenberg writes, is “unhappy with his situation” in Munich.
Arsenal are one of the clubs that have taken notice of the Dutchman’s situation at Bayern, but Plettenberg reports that the player is “definitely” not for sale this summer. Gravenberch signed a contract with Die Roten until 2027 last summer, and Bayern view him as pivotal to their long-term plans.
Despite Bayern’s current stance, Gravenberch may be a player for Gooners to keep an eye out for throughout the summer. Liverpool also boast an interest, but their priority target remains Mason Mount after they pulled out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham.
Young Gravenberch certainly fits the bill in regards to the profile of midfielder Mikel Arteta appreciates, but a move at this stage appears fanciful.
