Before the World Cup, Gabriel Jesus was arguably Arsenal’s best player, but his season was cruelly interrupted by injury and he has had mixed fortunes since his return.

After coming back into the team, he quickly racked up five goals, giving the whole team a lift and reminding fans of what we’d been missing in his absence, but over the last two weeks, he’s looked badly off the pace, but fans need not worry.

3 reasons Arsenal fans shouldn’t be worried about Gabriel Jesus

1. Long-term injury

When recovering from a long-term injury, the return can lead to fluctuations in form, as the body and mind get used to the demands of physical competition again.

Gabriel Jesus missed four months of football and also had the emotional hurt of being sent home from the World Cup due to the injury so he could have surgery, which is catastrophic for players to have to go through.

After initially being phased into the side, he has started every game since the international break and has scored five goals in nine starts, which is a respectable record for any player, but a very good one for someone recovering from such a long layoff.

After Wolves on Sunday, Jesus will have a month off to relax before joining the squad for pre-season and will be able to hit the reset button ahead of 2023/24. If he can remain fit for the whole season, fans will see him return to his best.
