2. Leadership

As mentioned, Jorginho is a coach on the pitch. He is the player pointing, shouting, organising and leading everything in his area of the pitch.

With Martin Odegaard leading the press ahead of him and becoming a more vocal character in his own right, Arsenal have now added another tactical leader on the pitch, who can carry out Arteta’s instructions to the letter.

With Granit Xhaka leaving, Arsenal are losing a member of the leadership group, and while the hope is that he is directly replaced by Declan Rice, having a leader like Jorginho who has won the biggest trophies will be key as expectations have already changed at Arsenal.

Top four is no longer the goal. The fans, players and Arteta want to compete for the title and the cups, and to do that rotation is crucial, so having a leader like Jorginho who can step in at any time will be huge for the team’s ability to stay fresh.
