Arsenal have started the season off well, and the only games they have not won have come against Liverpool and Manchester City. The rest have been swept aside.

Even though they ahve signed some quality players over the summer, Arsenal still have a few of those ones whom they expect more from, but they just don't get as much from them as they should.

There are players who have not been performing well for a while now, but they must start turning up sooner rather than later. Here are three such players.

3 Arsenal players who seriously need to up their game in October

Martin Ødegaard

Ødegaard is Arsenal's captain, and has a lot of responsibilities on his shoulder. He is a creative midfielder responsible for so many things for Arsenal going forward. He is also a good presser and can help the team out defensively as well.

The problem with him is that he has not played like himself for a good few months. Ødegaard is always too selfless or too safe with his passing, resulting in a lot of chances being wasted and breaks being underutilised by the Gunners.

Ødegaard does not shoot that often, and many times, he has the chance to play one of the attackers through on goal with a slightly riskier pass, but ends up slowing the game down with a pass backwards, or a pass sideways.

Those are not the things anyone expects from the captain of this talented and young squad, and hopefully, he is able to sort it out sooner rather than later.

Gabriel Martinelli

It feels weird to put Martinelli's name here right after he got them a precious point against Manchester City last weekend. However, Martinelli deserves to be on this list for one reason and one reason alone.

If we are looking at the way he has performed as of late, then yes, he should not be on here. However, that has never been the problem with Martinelli. He is always looking good at some points of the season, so if you look at him then, there is a chance he'd be playing well.

The problem is with his consistency, or lack thereof. He would play well in so many big games, gain momentum and continuity, only to then not score or assist for the next five relatively easier games.

That is the only thing that is keeping him from achieving stardom. Everyone knows Martinelli has the talent, it has always been the question of whether he can show it on a consistent basis, which just has not happened for him at Arsenal so far.

Time is on his side for now, but it will not be for long. The left-wing is easily Arsenal's weakest position, and if Martinelli does not make it his own with good performances every week, then they will look to the transfer market.

Viktor Gyökeres

Of course, he had to be here.

Gyökeres is not fit and firing the way everyone expected him to from the get-go. He has had a slow start to life in North London, and has only managed a couple of goals this season so far.

He has even skied a few really easy opportunities against below average opposition, so it has not been the best start for the Swedish striker.

Arsenal invested a lot of money in the player, so there is a level of expectation from the striker, and Gyökeres has to simply turn up more in these next few games so that it takes some pressure off his shoulders.

Arsenal have some relatively easy fixtures coming up, which could be perfect for him to find his form back and set the league on fire the way he did in Portugal as well as in the Champions League.
