Arsenal are reported to be among the clubs interested in a move for Brighton forward Joao Pedro this summer and have recently been handed a boost in hopes of striking a potential deal.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed on Wednesday that the Brazilian striker can leave the Seagulls during the transfer window as he looks to explore a new chapter in his career. This will have seen the ears of Gunners officials prick up as it may signal the possibility of getting a straightforward deal for a goalscorer over the line.
While it has to be acknowledged Pedro is a talented footballer, he is not Arsenal's main choice with Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko said to be the priority striker options. The Gunners will of course keep the Brazilian in mind, but there are three reasons why they should not target Joao Pedro this summer.
1. On-pitch behaviour

Joao Pedro has come under criticism this season for his reckless actions on the pitch and paid the price when he was sent off in a 4-2 defeat away to Brentford in April.
The striker was given his marching orders after he lashed out during a battle with defender Nathan Collins. He had already controversially avoided a red card in his side's home meeting with the Bees earlier in the campaign. Pedro appeared to swing a dangerous elbow toward the face of Yehor Yarmolyuk, but evaded a dismissal due to making no contact.
This behaviour is something that wouldn't be welcomed at Arsenal. The Gunners have had a poor discipline record this season, albeit due to questionable decisions, but to add fuel to the fire would do them no good. His young age and rawness may be considered a factor, but with these actions appearing to still be a problem for Pedro, Mikel Arteta's side should steer clear for now.
