With Ben White absent from the squad and Jurrien Timber dropped to the bench for a rest, Thomas Partey made the move to right back but did not disappoint in the makeshift role.

The Ghanaian made a real attempt to get up the pitch and offer support on the overlap down the right side. He played some dangerous crosses into the box and helped his team on the attack with a number of progressive passes.

Partey grabbed the opener for his side when he charged alongside Declan Rice during a second half counter-attack before being played in to fire a first-time effort past Mark Flekken from the right side of the box.

While he wasn't required to do too much defending, what Partey did do, he did well and showed that despite some previous questionable displays, he is capable of filling in at full back. He will have been disappointed to have been forced off with injury just nine minutes after his goal.
