Arsenal welcome Newcastle to the Emirates on Tuesday evening for the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.
The Gunners were frustrated last time out as they drew 1-1 with a formidable Brighton outfit. Mikel Arteta's side took the lead in the first half through Ethan Nwaneri but some changes after the break worked in the Seagulls' favour. After a spell of Brighton pressure, Joao Pedro won a controversial penalty and converted from the spot to rob Arsenal of all three points.
As Arsenal look to put one foot in their first cup final since 2020, there are three key talking points ahead of their huge semi-final first leg tie with Newcastle.
1. Making home advantage count
Fans can argue all day whether a home advantage is better to have in the first or second leg, but Arsenal have been dealt the former and they must make the most of that.
With the prospect of the Gunners reaching their first final in almost five years, the club's fans will be in full voice and behind their side. With this creating a potentially intimidating atmosphere for the visiting Newcastle, Arsenal must replicate the support of their fans on the pitch with a dominant performance.
The Gunners know the second leg at St James' Park will be a tough one having faltered in back-to-back games on Tyneside. Arsenal need to make their home advantage count on Tuesday and should be looking to have the tie wrapped up ahead of the return fixture.
