There was a point in the season where it seemed Arsenal were better suited to focus on cup competitions as they didn't seem up to the task of challenging for the Premier League. Their early FA Cup exit at the hands of Manchester United put a dent in that plan and that has now made the Carabao Cup one of the Gunners' few hopes this season.

With the club lacking a natural goalscorer, Kai Havertz will only be able to take them so far in the title race. Despite some good performances on the continental front, the Champions League also looks like it may be just be out of Arsenal's reach for the same reason.

While they are 2-0 down on aggregate, the Carabao Cup actually looks like the Gunners' most realistic chance to win a trophy this season. Many will argue that the club needs to pick up some silverware this year or there will be questions asked of Mikel Arteta. As a result, tonight's game against Newcastle is one of the team's last few, and maybe their best, hopes of winning a trophy this campaign. A lot is on the line tonight.
