3 talking points ahead of PSV Eindhoven vs Arsenal

Arsenal travel to face PSV Eindhoven for the first leg of their round of 16 matchup in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

The Gunners were held to a 0-0 draw at Nottingham Forest last time out. A number of good performances at the back helped Mikel Arteta's side secure a point but a lack of threat from the frontline meant that was the best result they could take from the City Ground.

With Arsenal's hunt for European silverware set to seriously get underway, there are three key talking points ahead of their tough trip to PSV.

1. Avoiding defeat is crucial

While this is only the first and likely the tougher leg of the tie, Arsenal must be looking to avoid defeat at all costs on Tuesday.

The Gunners showed in their dismal Carabao Cup semi-final loss to Newcastle that they currently look incapable of overturning an aggregate deficit, and the worst-case scenario heading into next week's tie at the Emirates is them having to chase the game.

Arsenal are currently bereft of a reliable threat in attack at this moment in time, so it isn't exactly going to be raining goals in either fixture against the Dutch giants. While a win is the preference, they must focus on avoiding defeat on Tuesday in order to capitalise on their home advantage in the second leg, even if that is a mere slender win.
