Alex Scott rejects new Bournemouth contract amid Arsenal interest

Alex Scott has rejected a new contract offer from Bournemouth amid interest from Arsenal, according to multiple reports.

The Cherries had made it a summer priority to tie the midfielder down to new terms, but he has turned down the proposal leaving no agreement at this current point in time.

The Gunners are one of multiple clubs that have shown an interest in signing Scott in the transfer window and their hopes of securing his services could be boosted by the latest update in his Bournemouth future.

Talks between the south coast side and Scott have been ongoing since March when the club made their first offer of a renewal with talks continuing despite no agreement being reached, as per the latest update.

BBC Sport reported in June that Arsenal had seen an enquiry for the player rejected by Bournemouth with Marco Rose's side remaining adamant on their stance that he is not for sale despite rumours of an £80million valuation.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea are among the other clubs to also show an interest in signing Scott this summer.

The midfielder's current deal expires at the end of the 2027/28 season and Bournemouth are happy to keep hold of him without agreeing any extension for the time being.

While the Cherries are remaining firm on their no-sale stance and are also under no pressure to sanction a sale, Scott's latest contract rejection could open up the opportunity for clubs to show an interest once again.

He was a crucial player for Bournemouth on their way to securing a record sixth place finish in the Premier League and Europa League qualification last season, scoring four goals and providing an assist in 37 league appearances. He netted the winning strike in a 2-1 win for the Cherries at the Emirates Stadium in April, a result that presented the risk of derailing the Gunners' eventually successful title challenge.

Mikel Arteta's side are still in the market for a midfielder after seeing their pursuit of Morgan Rogers come to an abrupt end when Chelsea hijacked the move to secure his signing over the weekend while Bruno Guimarães remains under strong consideration in North London.

If Arsenal are still interested in signing Scott, his rejection of a new contract proposal should boost their hopes of securing his services. While Bournemouth remain adamant he is not for sale, the Gunners may test their resolve with another enquiry.
