Arsenal are showing their credentials as Premier League champions on the global stage as they are leaving rival clubs in the dust at the World Cup.

With eight goals and 12 assists, the Gunners' representatives at the tournament have 20 goal involvements so far, seeing them lead as the English top flight side with the most across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Having had 15 players called up to national squads at the World Cup, Mikel Arteta's side have certainly demonstrated their brilliance up to the quarter-final stage of the global competition.


Arsenal leading Premier League rivals in World Cup goal involvements

Of the 280 goals scored so far at the World Cup, eight of those have came from Arsenal players. Kai Havertz found the back of the net three times before Germany's elimination while Leandro Trossard has scored twice for Belgium.

Mikel Merino opened his account for the tournament with a late winner over Portugal in the round of 16, and Gabriel Martinelli and Viktor Gyökeres both scored once prior to Brazil and Sweden's respective exits.

Assists have proved even more common for the Gunners as Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard are both keeping up their own battles to be the competition's best playmaker with three each so far.

Trossard has been just as productive for his teammates as he has been himself with two assists added to his two strikes while Gyökeres also provided a brace of setups.

Declan Rice grabbed an assist in England's group-opening win over Croatia, from a corner of course, and Gabriel Magalhaes, providing the cross for Casemiro to head in an equaliser in Brazil's dramatic comeback win over Japan in the round of 32.

Of the 15 Arsenal players that travelled to the World Cup, 10 still remain ahead of the quarter-finals beginning with France taking on Morocco this evening, so the Gunners will fancy their chances of extending their lead ahead of their Premier League counterparts.

In fact, Arteta's side are the second most productive of any club at the tournament, with only Real Madrid players boasting more goal involvements, with 26 to this point.

Arsenal are guaranteed to have at least two teams with players from the club feature in the semi-finals with Spain taking on Belgium and England facing Norway in the last eight. Among those quarter-final ties are nine of the club's remaining representatives.

Despite eventually securing the title, so many criticised the Gunners' style of play throughout the Premier League season, especially with their occasional lack of goalscoring quality, but the club are certainly making a case to their rivals with their brilliance at the World Cup to this point.
