So far, so good for Arsenal. Some might not like how they went about it, but the fact of the matter is that the Gunners went to Old Trafford, won the game, and kept a clean sheet throughout its entirety.
And let's not act like going to Old Trafford is easy. Sure, Mikel Arteta has a great record against Man United as manager and Man United hasn't set the world alight in recent seasons, but it will always remain a tough place to visit.
Besides, Arsenal can only win games. In the past, the frustration was that Arsenal looked good without winning games. So, there can be no complaints about winning games while not looking good.
All that being said, it wouldn't be a true start to Arsenal's season without a curveball being thrown their way.
And that curveball came in the form of a Kai Havertz injury. Yes, another one.
Arsenal will seek transfer market opportunties, says Fabrizio Romano
According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal could now turn to the transfer window once more. They are open to signing another attacker while they learn the extent of Kai Havertz' injury.
In an update on X, Fabrizio Romano said "Arsenal are back in the market for new opportunities up front after the injury suffered by Kai Havertz. The Arsenal staff are assessing his injury to understand how long he will be out but after suffering a serious injury already a few months ago, Havertz is out again and that's bad news..."
"... So, assessing the market and considering an opportunity for the final 10 days of the summer transfer window. Arsenal are aware of the situation; they need one more player up front."
It very quickly turned from bad news to good news. We all know that Kai Havertz isn't a striker, but fans can pretend he's a striker if this means a new one will be signed as his replacement.
And a new signing will not be a replacement for Viktor Gyokeres. If Sunday's fixture against Man United was anything to go by, Arteta prefers Gyokeres, but relies on Havertz as a rotational player.
Gyokeres didn't set the world alight at Old Trafford, but the feeling is that he'll become a great player over time. Bukayo Saka said he's settled in well, and it's unfair to judge a new player after 60 minutes of competitive action.
Now the question is - Which attacker will Arsenal sign?
