Arsenal are still on the hunt to replace Edu Gaspar. To do so, they might turn towards Dan Ashworth, who recently departed Man United.

Arsenal and Man United are two of the biggest forces in the history of English football. Therefore, it is no surprise that over the years, they have shared many faces.

As it stands, Arsenal are in much better stead than Man United. In fact, Man United have been going through their worst period as a club for many years now, while Arsenal are in a more promising position under Mikel Arteta.

However, Arsenal might make a move which will definitely not sit well with Man United fans - Still, has that ever stopped us in the past?

Arsenal want to bring disloyal Man United rebel to partner Mikel Arteta

According to a report from James Olley of ESPN, Arsenal are currently considering a move for Dan Ashworth to replace Edu Gaspar as their sporting director. Ashworth only left Man United at the weekend.

Before joining Man United, Dan Ashworth became a figure of ridicule at Newcastle United. Believed to be the catalyst to their long-term project, he left before his contract expired, raising legal concerns between Newcastle and Man United.

Now, after only a short period of time at Man United, Ashworth has left the club. It is believed that the departure came as a result of disagreements with the higher-ups at Old Trafford, so it is likely a result of their recent managerial acquisition.

So, Dan Ashworth has not covered himself in glory over his last two tenures. He is now not looked at fondly by either Newcastle or Man United fans. Nevertheless, this doesn't seem to be swaying Arsenal.

With an eye on replacing Edu Gaspar, Ashworth (or whoever replaces Edu) must bring with them two credentials. They must be personality-driven so that they can replace Edu's brilliant relationship with both Mikel Arteta and the United players. Also, they must be knowledgable in the field of football.

Dan Ashworth is considered to be both of those things. While his reputation might be slightly tarnished in recent seasons, he is still held in high regard by his former positions.

Ashworth is the former FA director of elite development, so he has great connection to the England international team. It is within Arsenal's best interest to retain their relationship witht he national team, considering some of their key players also represent the national team.
